Scope and sources
The default view covers the United States over the trailing 12 months. Google Trends supplies normalized interest over time on a 0–100 scale; Google Autocomplete and related keyword phrases supply query-shape signals. Marketplace competition is shown only when current listing observations are available for the selected marketplace. These are relative signals, not absolute keyword volume or verified competitor sales.
Current calculation
- Demand is the average normalized Google Trends interest over the selected period.
- Seasonality is based on coefficient of variation, normalized and capped at 100.
- Competition is computed from observed marketplace listing count, favorites, and established-listing share. It is withheld when listing observations are unavailable.
- Opportunity is computed only when both live demand and measured competition are present, using demand minus half the competition score plus a 30-point normalization baseline.
- Margin indicators use configurable product-cost and selling-price assumptions, not observed seller profit.
Unavailable data
When Google Trends is unavailable, demand and seasonality are returned as unavailable values rather than neutral scores. Competition and opportunity are also withheld when marketplace listing observations are not available. Retry the source before using the report for a market decision. Query terms with sparse data can also appear more stable than they are.
Refresh and interpretation
Results are fetched when a report is run and may be cached briefly for performance. A higher score means the available relative signals deserve further investigation. It does not guarantee demand, sales, advertising performance, marketplace approval, legal clearance, or future ranking.
